Education for All / Fast Track Initiative

The Republic of Moldova received a Grant from the Education for All/Fast Track Initiative (EFA/FTI) Catalytic Fund to support the implementation of the Consolidated Action Plan on Education (2006-2008)

The objectives of the Grant are:

• (a) to increase the rate of enrollment of children in preschool programs;
• (b) to extend access to quality preschool education for children at risk;
• (c) to increase the quality and efficiency of the education facilities and programs;
• (d) to provide training on early childhood development for teaching, medical and technical administrative staff in educational institutions;
• (e) to consolidate social partnerships and local community involvement in early childhood development programs

Within the Education for All/Fast Track Initiative Project, Step by Step Program carried out the following activities: Trainings for Local Trainers (105 persons) from the field of early education from 33 raions and 2 municipalities and "cascade" trainings for educators (1200 persons) at local level. Also, within the Education for All/Fast Track Initiative Project, the following materials were developed:

• Learning and Development Standards for Children from 5 to 7.
